I have been coaching volleyball for four years now, and this assignment represents the first time that I was asked to analyze movements in different ways. This forced me to think about coaching differently once I understood how the muscles and different systems in the body worked together in order to help athletes achieve optimal performance.

This final case project is a good representation of what I learned about the legal side of coaching. A coach takes on a lot of responsibilities and there can be legal consequences if certain things are not done in the correct way. This case study shows real world applications of different legal situations and how they can affect a coach or an athletic director.

It can be very difficult to simulate what it would feel like to be an outsider, especially if you are a part of the cultural minority. In order to fully grasp what it is like to be an outsider, I watched the movie Whale Rider and tried to understand the values of a culture very different from my own. I had to notice things that I normally would not, and I needed to be aware of how my own culture affected my interpretations of different events.

I was able to work one on one with a student of my choice for a literacy project. This particular case study showed me that I cannot always trust my assumptions about students, and gave me some beneficial tools to help evaluate the level of my students' literacy. There are lesson plans included in this document that I used as part of a literacy case study. These lesson plans represent a good idea of what some lessons look like within my classroom. This has been helpful to me as I move forward with literacy in my classroom. I now have many more resources to consult while lesson planning, and many ideas of how to make literacy instruction more meaningful in my classroom.
